Ntseki Reflects On Four Defeats In First Nine Games

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Molefi Ntseki admits four defeats in nine DStv Premiership games is not acceptable.

Chiefs suffered a 1-0 loss to Cape Town City at FNB Stadium on Tuesday evening which saw City leapfrog them in the table up to fifth place and leaving Amakhosi in seventh.

It also marked City’s fourth win over Chiefs in their last five games, which was won with a goal against the run of play from Khanyisa Mayo.

“It is, it is [four defeats is too much] it doesn’t go well with all of us, in terms of losing matches, as I said you prepare [for matches] to win,” Ntseki said.

“The team has brought in good quality players. and this good quality player… I always say it’s a process, it’s a process for them to understand the game model, it’s a process for them to understand results like this.

“It’s a process for them, whenever they miss chances, do they stay calm – do they stay confident to say the next chance I get I will be able to score – but when you start worrying about losing a game, it means the confidence goes away.

“What is important is for us to build them and for us to have the confidence and belief to say the next game, we go for it – you don’t prepare for a loss in any way, any time you prepare, you prepare to win [games].”

Nteski admits they lacked composure in vital stages of the game and it’s perhaps something that’s crippling the goal-scoring potential within what he admitted is a quality crop of players at his disposal this season.

“It’s a bad result, when you look at the plan going into the game, we knew it could have been two wins in a row, we were looking forward to playing well and winning this game,” he said.

“But if you don’t score goals and concede in the manner in which we did, you will likely lose the game, but I think if you look at the balance of play – we were very much in the forefront trying to keep possession and being more offensive.

“Even after conceding we piled pressure on the opponents looking for that equaliser and hopefully a winning goal but on the day decision-making let us down, opportunities created, set-plays became emotional and as a result, we couldn’t get a goal.”

Chiefs next game will be after the FIFA international break on 28 October away to Golden Arrows.
