Bradley Carnell’s Saint Louis City SC have continued their superb debut campaign in the Major League Soccer after beating Lionel Messi’s new team, Inter Miami 3-0.

Saint Louis broke the record of becoming the first-ever expansion team to win their first five games in the MLS, but many thought they would slow down after a near perfect start.

However, they are continuing to defy the odds and have remained at the top of the Western Conference table.

On Sunday morning, Saint Louis played Inter Miami, the team partly-owned by David Beckham, who unveiled Messi on Saturday, and came out trumps.

Goals by Samuel Adeniran, Tim Parker and Eduard Lowen saw City collect another three points, while Messi was not part of Miami’s playing squad yet – Njabulo Blom played the whole match.

It was Saint Louis’ 13th win in 23 games and their fourth over the last five games, while they have drawn two and lost eight matches – a record that sees them top the Western Conference and sit in third position in the combined MLS table with 41 points.
