Gauteng PSL side mulling over hosting Kaizer Chiefs in Polokwane

Kaizer Chiefs fans could see their team play again in Polokwane before the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season come to an end.
A Gauteng PSL side is contemplating playing its home league clash against Chiefs in the city of Polokwane, FARPost has learnt.
This comes after Polokwane Municipality made it clear that it has intentions to have more DStv Premiership games played in the city.
Earlier this year, the Polokwane Municipality penned a three-year agreement with the Soweto giants, Chiefs, to play its three home matches at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium.
Under the arrangement, Chiefs have already played three of its home games this season in Polokwane against Royal AM, Golden Arrows and most recently Swallows FC.
The disappointing Swallows game, which they lost 2-1, would have been the last for this season. However, this publication can reveal that SuperSport United are planning to host Amakhosi in Polokwane on Saturday, 13 May 2023.
WHY SUPERSPORT PLAN TO PLAY KAIZER CHIEFS IN POLOKWANE
The game was initially scheduled to be played at Lucas Moripe Stadium, but the stadium has been closed after it failed to meet the standards of the PSL.
According to reports, plumbing issues are the main concern at the multi-purpose facility located in Atteridgeville.
The development has forced the Tshwane-based outfit to find an alternate venue to wind up the season.
As a result, Matsatsantsa moved some of their home games from Lucas Moripe Stadium to the Tshwane University of Technology [TUT] Stadium.

So far, SuperSport played three of their home games on unfamiliar turf [TUT Stadium] against TS Galaxy, AmaZulu and Stellenbosch FC.
The match between SuperSport and Chiefs will now be played at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium. This is simply because TUT Stadium is too small to host a game of this magnitude.
POLOKWANE MUNICIPALITY MET WITH SUPERSPORT UNITED
In January this year, Polokwane Municipality Executive Mayor John Mpe was in talks with SuperSport with the purpose to host some of their home games in Polokwane.
Matsatsantsa are currently fighting to qualify for the CAF Champions League qualification next season.
The side dropped two points against Stellenbosch following their 0-0 draw on Tuesday night at TUT Stadium. However, Gavin Hunt’s charges remain in third place on the log standings with 48 points. They are just a point behind second-placed Orlando Pirates, who will face Royal AM today.
