Like Father Like Daughter: Kelly Khumalo and Senzo Meyiwa’s Daughter Displays Impressive Football Skills in Video

Thingo, the daughter of Kelly Khumalo and the late Senzo Meyiwa appears to be following in her father’s footsteps as a talented football player. Senzo Meyiwa was one of South Africa’s top football players. A Zulu proverb states, “Ligotshwa lisencane,” which can be translated to mean “Teach them while they’re still young.”

This saying is particularly relevant to Thingo, who recently demonstrated impressive football skills. Kelly shared a video of Thingo playing football on Instagram, and social media users praised her exceptional talent and abilities.

Many reckoned she got it from her dad, and some praised Thingo for following in her late father’s footsteps.

Watch the video below:

Thingo was only a few months old when her father, Senzo Meyiwa, was tragically killed in an alleged botched robbery in 2014. The incident occurred at the home of his then-girlfriend, Kelly Khumalo. Recently, Kelly Khumalo spoke with Dineo Ranaka and Sol Phenduka on Kaya FM about the public’s reaction to the tragedy. She expressed her concern that the public has treated the situation as entertainment rather than taking it seriously and giving it the respect it deserves.

“And also what I have learnt is that it is no longer a sensitive issue to people, it’s entertainment and that’s where the sad part is. It’s no longer a sensitive issue, people have lost touch with the fact that families have suffered through this, individuals have suffered through this, children have suffered through this. They have taken this and made it an entertainment thing. Everyone comes with their own story, they built it up, they believe it and they run with it for like and for clout” said Kelly Khumalo.

When asked if hearing the name Senzo Meyiwa mentioned, perhaps on the radio, causes her to become emotional or even cry, Kelly Khumalo took a deep breath while considering her response. Despite the weight of the question, she answered without hesitation that she is not bothered when she heard Senzo Meyiwa’s name mentioned.

“Not really! I have had those moments but not anymore. I mean you learn to live with these things and you have to accept them for who they are.

When asked if she ever dreams or thinks about the late Senzo Meyiwa, Kelly Khumalo responded candidly. She revealed that she still communicates with him even now. She did not shy away from expressing that she continues to have a connection with him despite his passing.

“Oh I do, I get visits most of the time, yes. I get chats all the time and for me it is very comforting. I worry when someone I adored or had as a very big part in my life passes on and never visits. Even with my grandmother, for years i didn’t see her and I was like (hayibo, ugogo uphi?) and when she did visit me i was like ‘okay, we’re good now” said Kelly Khumalo.
