Mbesuma’s Son Earns Zambia Call-Up

Lineker Mbesuma, the son of former Kaizer Chiefs striker Collins Mbesuma, received a national team call-up for Zambia’s U17 side ahead of the upcoming African Cup Of Nations.
The 16-year-old started started playing at the SuperSport Soccer School at an early age; then he moved to Bidvest Wits. From there, he went to TS Galaxy, and he is now with Jomo Cosmos.
Zambia’s U17 head coach Ian Bakala has maintained the bulk of the team that secured qualification but also handed call ups to a number of new players
Back in August, Collins Mbesuma stated he was hoping that his son will receive a national team call-up and represent Chipolopolo.
His wish has been fulfilled, as Lineker Mbesuma will be participate in the upcoming AFCON that will be hosted by Algeria between 29 April and 19 May.
The 16-year-old shared his views ahead of the tournament where the young Chipolopolo are placed in Group B alongside five time world champions Nigeria, Morocco and South Africa.
“It feels great and It feels like a dream, it’s an honor to play for my country and I can’t wait to play the African Cup Of Nation,” he told Zambian media.
“It’s a bit tough, there’s competition here and it’s great to be here. My ambition is to win the AFCON and go to the World Cup.
“It’s gonna be a tough group but we got to work hard and do our best.”
