Al Ahly captain Mohamed El Shenawy has revealed why they have been struggling to beat Mamelodi Sundowns in South Africa.
The highly-rated goal-minder put it on record that the weather conditions are one of the main factors that affect them when they play Bafana Ba Style on their own turf.
El Shenawy said despite the harsh weather conditions, the Red Devils have improved to adjust to climate conditions in an effort to register their first win against Sundowns in SA.
The skipper was speaking in a press conference ahead of the much-awaited CAF Champions League Group B clash against Sundowns.
The Brazilians will host Al Ahly at Loftus Versfeld Stadium, with the kick-off set for 15h00.
CLIMATE CONDITIONS A PROBLEM FOR AL AHLY
“I know we played many times here but we haven’t won a game due to certain circumstances with the weather being the main factor,” El Shenawy told the media.
“But what I’m sure of is that we are going to fight tomorrow to win the game. It will be the first time tomorrow beating Sundowns [at home].”

WHY IS IT DIFFICULT FOR AL AHLY TO PLAY AT 15:00
When asked why it is difficult for the Egyptian giants to play at 15:00 in South Africa, El Shenawy replied: “It’s not a matter of psychological problem.
“However in the whole world in competitions like Champions League no one plays at 15:00 anymore. But it’s not something that is going to affect us. We are going fight tomorrow and we are well prepared to win the game.”
He added: “I know Sundowns is trying the best to win this game. For example, they are now choosing a pitch they never played on exactly when they play Al Ahly. And also they are choosing to play at 15:00 because they want to win.
“However, it’s within their right. But we are prepared for the game tomorrow and we are aiming to get our first win here.”
