AmaZulu have announced that goalkeeper Jody February has joined the club on loan.
February joined Masandawana from the former Ajax Cape Town (now Cape Town Spurs) but hasn’t featured for club since.
Instead, he was loaned out to Cape Umoya in 2019/20 and Swallows in 2021/22.
In 2022/23, he again failed to make any appearance amid strong competition in the Downs’ goalkeeping department of the likes of Ronwen Williams, Dennis Onyango, Kennedy Mweene and Reyaad Pieterse.
He was now loaned out to AmaZulu, where he will wear the No. 30 shirt, the club confirmed on Wednesday.
“It was a surprise to be honest, because I didn’t know that AmaZulu were interested,” he told his new club.
“When they came last week I was actually happy to be given an opportunity, not a fresh start but a chance for to compete.
“I knew most of the players and as time goes I’ll build more friendships, brotherhood on and off the field, we are one.
“At the end of the day it’s just to help the club get better, do better and reach our goals we set ourselves for the season. Hopefully we can all do that together.”
At AmaZulu, February will compete with Veli Mothwa and Olwethu Mzimela for the spot between the sticks.
