In the wake of his newfound fame, he purchased land in the lush hills of Adams Mission, South of Durban. Sources have it that he bought the land in 2012 at a price of R30,000 and then began construction in 2013. Upon his death, he had already plashed over a million into the mansion’s construction. But what happened to it after his death?

The incomplete brick-walled mansion was to have five bedrooms, a swimming pool, and an open-plan kitchen. According to several sources, the mansion was to be a family home for the Meyiwas. Well, what’s saddening is that the beautiful architectural design never got to see the light of day as the construction plans died away with the death of Senzo.

Sadly after the untimely death of Sam Meyiwa in 2019, residents of Adams Mission living near Senzo Meyiwa’s house called for the demolition of the incomplete building with claims that it was a hotspot for insecurity in the neighbourhood.

According to his late father, Senzo had spent about R1 million in constructing the house, and the family needed about R900,000 more to complete the home. Sadly the family had no money to continue the construction work since Senzo was the breadwinner.

Nearly eight years after his death, there seems to be a ray of hope as reports indicate that the construction of Senzo Meyiwa’s house has resumed. In October 2022, Sunday World reported that Meyiwa’s widow Mandisa Mkhize had nearly completed the home’s construction. Senzo Meyiwa’s brother revealed that Mandisa was planning on moving into the home after its completion.
