Power utility Eskom has outlined its load shedding plans for New Year’s Eve – and there’s some good news.

At the time of publishing, South Africa is on Stage 3 load shedding until 16:00.
Stage 4 load shedding will then be implemented between 16:00 and 05:00 on Saturday.
Thereafter, Stage 2 load shedding will be in effect from 05:00 until 16:00 on Saturday – which is New Year’s Eve.
Load shedding will then be suspended until 05:00 on Monday, 2 January, whereafter Stage 2 load shedding will be implemented until further notice.
Eskom’s load shedding schedule:
Friday, 30 December
- Stage 3: until 16h00
- Stage 4: 16h00 to 00h00
Saturday, 31 December
- Stage 4: 00h00 to 05h00
- Stage 2: 05h00 to 16h00
- Suspended: 16h00 to 00h00
Sunday, 1 January
Monday, 2 January
- Stage 2: 05h00 until further notice

In a tweet, Eskom posted: “Stage 4 loadshedding will be implemented from 16:00 today until 05:00 tomorrow morning. Thereafter, Stage 2 loadshedding will be implemented from 05:00 until 16:00 on 31 December.
“Loadshedding will then be suspended until 05:00 on Monday, 2 January whereafter Stage 2 loadshedding will be implemented until further notice.”
