Orlando Pirates assistant coach Sergio Almenara shared his views ahead of the blockbuster clash against DStv Premiership defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Spaniard scaled this fixture as the big one and promised the buccaneer’s faithful to fight for maximum points. The last time Pirates beat Sundowns away from home in the league match was back in January 2018. Almenera is confident that they will take maximum points.
“The break was useful in order to put on a pitch of some ideas on the training ground,” Almenara said.
“So to refresh, renew and also remind some of the ideas that we have been working with, and so far so good. The players we have available for the next game are gonna be fully fit.
“So we are hoping and trusting that we will develop our good performance.
In previous times, we’ve seen a lot in this fixture, goals, drama and entertainment. It seems like a fixture that grows almost every time when these two sides face each other. Almenera mentioned that buccaneers are more than ready to face Masandawana.
“Every game we play against Sundowns is a big game, everybody knows that,” he added
“We are Preparing for the game as usual, fighting for three points it doesn’t matter who’s in front.
“We know for people it’s a big game so we are gonna face the game in order to fight until the last minute of the game.
“So we are more than ready.”
