Kekana – Why Pitso Is Different To Other Coaches

Former Mamelodi Sundowns captain Hlompho Kekana has explained why his former coach Pitso Mosimane is different from other coaches at the top level.

The South African tactician recently joined Al Ahli Saudi in the First Division in Saudi Arabia, where he got off to a near perfect start with two wins and one draw from his first three games in charge.

Kekana, who made 292 appearances under ‘Jingles’ and lifted several trophies together, including the CAF Champions League title in 2016, says Mosimane’s mentality sets him apart from other coaches.

“Of course coach Pitso he is a different coach [from the others] I have worked with. His mentality, how he does things is different to anybody else,” he told journalists during an event to promote the Carling Black Label Cup.

“You can tell he is not afraid of challenges. By taking that job for me that’s huge. It paves ways for younger coaches in their coaching careers.

“That is bravery to go to a team like Al Ahly and having to win the CAF Champions League that’s not a fluke. I know the man works very, very hard.

“I’m sure wherever he is now, he already prepares for life in the Premier League [Saudi Pro League].”

Kekana represented Masandawana at the event, with his former side facing AmaZulu in the Carling Black Label Cup semi-final on 12 November, with the winner of the tie facing either Orlando Pirates or Kaizer Chiefs in the final.
