Striker Sifundo Dlamini has received coach Vincent Kobola’s praises as he helped Baroka FC to beat Black Leopards 1-0 in the Motsepe Foundation Championship Limpopo derby at Malamulele Stadium on Sunday.

After the hard-fought win over Lidoda Duvha, the ex-Maritzburg United assistant coach described Dlamini as a player that has everything a modern striker needs.

The narrow victory was enough for Bakgaga to extend their winning streak in the South African football second-tier to two, having thrashed struggling Pretoria Callies 3-1 at home last week.

Currently, Baroka are sitting on the 8th spot with seven points in four games.

“I think my strikers came to party today, especially Mfundo Dlamini who truly stands out for me. He really fought for us until the last minute when he got a penalty for us,” Kobola told the media.

But the coach admitted that it was not a walk in the park as he had predicted a tough battle prior to the mouthwatering derby.

“It was a tough afternoon, end-to-end stuff. Good game for the supporters to watch. I think we deserved to score and they deserved to score.

“But I’m just happy for my players who showed character on the day because that is how one wins games,” he added.

Kobola further revealed how important it is to get the maximum three points in games, adding that the three points Baroka got over Leopards should be a motivation for subsequent games.

“We came here to get three points, even though if it was a point it would still be okay with us as we were playing away from home.

“I think the heat played a part in slowing down the game in the first half but in the second half it was end-to-end stuff because the sun had cooled down,” explained Kobola.
