JOY as Miss Supranational Lalela Mswane finally back in SA

Reigning Miss Supranational 2022 Lalela Mswane, has finally touched down on South African soil following her crowning in Poland, on 15 July 2022.

The beauty queen made history by becoming the first black South African woman to be crowned Miss Supranational 2022 in history. Lalela landed at the OR Tambo International this morning and her adoring fans flocked to the airport to welcome her with warm hands. Her arrival in Johannesburg was greeted by an emotional and ferocious roar.

Speaking at a press conference she said “Being in Poland for the past fortnight, ahead of my return to Johannesburg, gave me a chance to let everything sink in. I am grateful and share the crown with everyone in this country. I am the first black woman to have won the title – what a time to be alive. It’s been a big week for women following the Banyana Banyana win and return home. I am filled with national pride,” said Lalela.

Fans have reacted to her arrival and have welcomed her back.

Through a statement from the Miss SA organization, Lalela said her crown is Mzansi’s victory “I am overwhelmed; at the moment it still feels surreal. I am deeply thankful to all the amazing people who have supported and uplifted me, I couldn’t have done it without them. I want to thank the organisers of Miss Supranational, the Polish people, all my fellow contestants, the Miss South Africa Organisation and my South African fans. This title is not mine alone, it is South Africa’s victory.”

Miss South Africa Organisation CEO Stephanie Weil said: “We are incredibly proud of Lalela and she really deserved this win. It is a victory for her and South Africa and we can’t wait to see what she is going to achieve on the international stage.”

Taking to her Instagram account after her crowning Lalela wrote: “I’m simply at a loss for words…With this crown I carry the hopes, dreams of women who have come before me and those to come. It serves as affirmation that no dream is too small, no journey insurmountable to conquer. May it be a constant reminder to allow your feet to lead you to wherever it is your heart desires. Thank you @misssupranational for trusting me with this crown. I look forward to making this year a truly incredible one. My beloved @official_misssa ,South Africa and team Lali, your love kept me going and I’m filled with so much gratitude. We did it Mzansi !!!”
