SuperSport United Head Coach Gavin Hunt has given an update about the club’s preseason progress, after his first week at his former team.

SuperSport are currently in Limpopo for a short pre-season camp.

Hunt, in reply to a question from iDiski Times journalist Lethabo Kganyago, said preseason is going well so far, and he’s getting to know the team.

“Yeah, obviously preseason is always a difficult time,” Hunt told Kganyago.

“Most clubs, because there’s players coming and going. And so it’s pretty much like that. Obviously, there’s a very new group of players, a very young group of players. I mean, I know a lot of them, but there’s a lot more I don’t know than I do know.

“So that’s always difficult. So I’ve been here now a week. Ja, it’s exciting. There’s a lot of talent. But talent means nothing if we don’t get them, right, you know, in terms of the mentality and how we want to play. But there’s a lot of talent, a very young team. So it’s exciting.”

Hunt said it’s tough for him to gauge on how the players are reacting after his involvement, as he wasn’t there before.

“You can’t compare because I don’t know,” Hunt continued.

“Only the people that know the players. They know, they can compare, but I don’t I can’t compare on what, I can’t compare to who or what. I just know what we need to do, how we need to do it and the way we do it.

“So ja, that’s all. But ja, we’ve seemed to be fine. Obviously, it takes time to affect everybody, in a short space of time I’m trying to affect them day by day, you’re affecting people as you go along, you know, what I mean? Affecting positions or playing or whatever. So you know, that’s it. It’s not rocket science.

“But obviously, results are the most important thing which people forget and don’t see what goes on behind the scenes. So I need to get the behind-the-scenes right to try and get the results. That’s the bottom line.”
