After winning their record 28th domestic league title, Tanzania giants Young Africans will be focussing on building the squad for bouncing back strongly in the African competition next season.

Along with signing five quality players, including Lazarous Kambole, the Dar es Salaam club has extended deals of crucial members of the first team.

FARPost can confirm there has been a significant breakthrough in negotiations with four senior players for the contract renewals.

Bakari Mwamnyeto
“Most of our players were on two-year contracts, and we’ve started extending whoever is needed at the club. We have started by extending the contract of our captain Bakary Mwamnyeto for another two years. It was coming to an end at the end of the season,” chairman of Yanga’s Signing Committee, Engineer [Eng.] Hersi Ally Said told FARPost.

Faridi Mussa
The winger became a Mwananchi in the 2020/21 season after joining them from Spanish lower-tier side Club Deportivo Tenerife B. He filled the void left by Rwandan winger Patrick Sibomana who was released at the end of the 2019/20 campaign. The versatile player has not disappointed.

Gift Mauya
He also joined at the start of the 2020/21 season from Kagera Sugar as Yanga sought to rebuild a team that would challenge Simba. He has been instrumental in midfield as Timu ya Wananchi wrapped up the league title without tasting defeat.

Ally Kibwana Shomari
At 21, the talented right-back still has the future ahead of him. The Jangwani giants have since extended his stay at the club by a further two years.
