Leshabela Back For Pre-Season – iDiski Times

South Africa youth international Khanya Leshabela is training with the Leicester City first-team for pre-season ahead of the 2022/23 Premier League campaign.

Leshabela, 22, has seen his contract expire with the club but has surprisingly been training with Brendan Rodgers first team since last week when they returned to the club’s headquarters.

The South African midfielder had previously been on trial at affiliate club Oud-Heverlee Leuven in Belgium with a view of a potential move next season but returned to England after his training stint.

Having graduated from the club’s academy system where he joined from Gregory Celtics in 2013, Leshabela has been held in high regard in 2021 during a 5-0 win over Sheffield United.

A loan stint at League One side Shrewsbury Town followed but he failed to command a regular starting berth at the club before finishing off the season with the Foxes in their Premier League 2 season.

It remains unclear whether the player will be given a new contract at the English top-flight club or will be moving on following the end of pre-season this month.
