Gauteng residents woke up to a drop in temperatures on Tuesday, 07 April 2026, following a hot Easter weekend.

The South African Weather Service has warned residents to brace for a wet and cooler week, with widespread showers and thunderstorms expected across Pretoria and Johannesburg.

In Pretoria, rain and thunderstorms are expected from the early hours of Tuesday, with temperatures reaching a high of around 23°C and a low of 16°C. Showers are likely to persist into the afternoon and evening.

Looking ahead, Pretoria will experience milder conditions on Wednesday and Thursday, with temperatures ranging between 22°C and 24°C.

Johannesburg will see similar weather patterns, with showers and thunderstorms expected throughout Tuesday. Temperatures in the city of gold are expected to range between 14°C and 22°C, remaining relatively low for most of the week.

Residents are advised to plan for wet conditions, possible thunderstorms, and slippery roads across the province.
