Unathi Nkayi rules out rekindling friendship with Somizi Mhlongo

Although most of her followers raved about her Asanda Madyibi designer dress, there was one comment that clearly rubbed Unathi Nkayi the wrong way.

In an Instagram post on Monday, 16 March, Unathi pulled no punches when she told a follower that she wants no connection with Somizi Mhlongo, after they implied that she wished to mend their friendship, which he refused.

This comes after the seasoned broadcaster posted photos from DJ Black Coffee’s 50th glitzy birthday dinner in Cape Town.

UNATHI NKAYI: ‘I WILL NEVER BE HIS FRIEND’

In a scathing response to a follower, the radio personality and musician made it crystal clear that she has never pleaded with him for anything and that she also doesn’t want to be associated with him due to his sexual offender label.

Unathi’s stance stems from the 2008 case where Somizi was found guilty of fondling Celani Njapha’s private parts at his (Somizi’s) upmarket Lonehill home.

Instagram user @ayabulela_95 wrote the following comment, which prompted a heated response from Unathi as seen in the second screenshot.

In 2021, Somizi’s ex-husband, Mohale Motloung, also came forward with damning abuse allegations against him shortly after their divorce.

OOPS! SOMIZI PICKED THE ‘WRONG SIDE’

Another reason Unathi has distanced herself from Somizi is that he decided to “side” with her ex-husband, Thomas Msengana, after their divorce in 2017.

In a candid interview on Podcast and Chill with MacG, the Run hit-maker stated the following while explaining Somizi’s allegiance to her ex-husband.

“He stopped texting and calling me, started going on boys’ holidays with Thomas, and even said weird things about me on his reality show,” said Unathi.
