Premier Soccer League prosecutor Zola Majavu has confirmed that Cape Town All Stars where charged by the PSL for bringing the league into disrepute.

Majavu charged All Stars and a few of their members over their behaviour at the final whistle in the recent promotion/relegation playoff against Swallows FC, which they lost 2-1 due to an injury-time goal by Joseph Mhlongo. It is believed the five charged are four players, and goalkeeper coach Brian van der Heever.

Earlier All Stars coach Allan Freese had been sent off for heavily remonstrating on the sidelines after Ruzaigh Gamildien assisted the goal from a potential offside position.

“I can confirm that Cape Town All Stars Football Club, together with five of his players [sic] have been charged for unsporting behaviour and bringing the league into disrepute,” Majavu said.

“This arises from a fixture between themselves and Swallows, in which they remonstrate with the referee, and made some unsavoury comments.

“They will be appearing before the DC next week, Wednesday, the 15th of June at 10:00 hours.

“Once that matter is finalized, or whatever the outcome of the DC on the day, I will publicize that and will not entertain any discussions beyond making public the final decision of the DC.”
