A 32 year old has been arrested for the double murder of mother and daughter in Mpumalanga

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, has congratulated members on the speedy arrest of a 32-year-old suspect in connection with a double homicide committed in Siyathemba, Balfour.

The bodies of the murdered 24-year-old woman and her two-year-old daughter were discovered in the informal settlement on Monday, June 6. It has since been ascertained that the woman had been strangled.

The five-month-old son of the deceased woman was taken by his father but has since been found and is unharmed.

The suspect will appear in the Balfour Magistrate Court tomorrow, June 9 and faces two charges of murder as well as one charge of defeating the ends of justice.

The Commissioner once again praised SAPS members for their determination and commitment shown during the investigation of this case.
