No Kaizer Chiefs players in the latest Bafana Bafana squad

No Kaizer Chiefs players were selected for Hugo Broos’s 37-man preliminary squad for Bafana Bafana.

The national team is scheduled to face Panama in two high-profile matches later this month.

The first match will take place on 27 March 2026, at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, with kick-off set for 19:00. The teams will then travel to Cape Town for a second clash on 31 March 2026, at DHL Stadium, scheduled for 19:30.

These matches serve as preparation ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

No Kaizer Chiefs player in another Bafana squad

This is not the first time that Broos has omitted players from Kaizer Chiefs. Since 2024, the national team has often lacked representation from Chiefs, which has upset many fans of the club.

Last year, Broos explained that the Soweto giants were not performing at the same level as Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns. In his final Africa Cup of Nations squad, there were also no players from Kaizer Chiefs.

With the World Cup just under 100 days away, it seems increasingly likely that there will be no Bafana Bafana players emerging from Kaizer Chiefs.

The Glamour Boys have struggled recently, losing four consecutive matches across all competitions. In the 37-man Bafana squad, Orlando Pirates have 11 players named, while Mamelodi Sundowns also have a significant representation.

The Bafana squad is expected to be trimmed down to 23 players in the coming weeks as Broos looks to find his settled World Cup team.

Which Chiefs player deserves to be in the national team?
