Al Ahly To Hold Meeting With Pitso

Al Ahly have confirmed they will hold an important meeting with head coach Pitso Mosimane on Tuesday evening.

Club president Mahmoud El Khatib invited Mosimane, who is currently in Morocco finishing his CAF Pro License, to join the club’s leaders via a zoom call, the club confirmed.

“Mahmoud El Khatib, Al Ahly’s president, will hold a video meeting on Tuesday night with Pitso Mosimane, the team’s head coach,” the club said in a brief statement.

“The meeting will see the presence of Al Ahly Football Company board, headed by Yasseen Mansour, Hossam Ghaly, the club’s board member, and the club’s planning committee members, Mohsen Saleh and Zakaria Nassef.

“The meeting will discuss some points regarding the first team’s preparations for the upcoming period.”

The meeting comes after Al Ahly lost the CAF Champions League final against Wydad Athletic Club on 30 May, which was once again met with heavy criticism by some of the club’s legends.

Mosimane himself rebuffed the continued criticism by Al Ahly legends in a recent interview with Newzroom Afrika, saying they have earned to comment based on their history with the club but he’s writing his history, which currently includes six trophies.

“Look, every week Al Ahly legends have something to say, some of them say good things and others don’t,” he said.

“They are legends, they have the right to say anything about their team. I’ve been here 18 months and I saw two CAF Champions League trophies, two Super Cup trophies, I’ve seen the league and the cup, I’ve seen two bronze medals in the Club World Cup. If it’s not good enough, I understand, maybe somebody else can do better.

“I don’t have to be worried about who says what and who doesn’t say what. Al Ahly is a big club and my contributions to Al Ahly are so small.

“Look at the players of that club, they won the Champions League eight times before I arrive, they won the league maybe 42 times before I arrive, it’s an opportunity for me to be at that club and write my own history.”
