Mpumalanga ABC Motsepe League second leg playoff encounter between Bayern FC and Secunda M Stars was abandoned on Saturday after fans threw objects and invaded the field.

The referee halted the match, with Secunda leading 1-0 at the time, and both teams retreated to the tunnel.

Bayern came into this match with a 2-0 first-leg advantage and were favourites. The incident is something that was probably not at the forefront of Bayern and Secunda’s minds before the final leg of the provincial playoffs.

The matter is now in the hands of the Safa Mpumalanga Disciplinary Committee for further investigation.
