10-point lead: No reason to relax, Mbatha tells Yanga | African News

Senzo Mbatha says a lead of 10 points at the top of the Tanzania Premier League is no reason to relax and has called on Young Africans to play every game like it’s the last.

Yanga have not won the league since 2017, with their bitter rivals winning it four times successively. With 11 games before the league comes to an end, Yanga enjoy a 10-point lead over their Dar es Salaam adversary.

Nonetheless, Mbatha, who serves as an administrator for Yanga, has warned the team not to let their guard down despite enjoying a healthy point lead.

“I think we stand a better chance to win the title. It is within our reach, but this is football. There is no way to relax but to play every game as if it is the last match. We have to be focused, every game that we are playing is crucial. We cannot see the 10 point gap and start celebrating we have to be focused and take one game at a time,” Mbatha said.

The former Orlando Pirates and Platinum Stars administrator is confident that this time around, Yanga can go all the way. Yanga play Simba in the Kariakoo Derby on 30 April and Mbatha is confident they have enough ammunition to conquer.

“This time around, I have been so confident about the derby because before you go to fight, you first look at the ammunition you have to do well without encountering many problems. I’ve never been confident, but I’m sure to do well this time.
