Manhunt Launched: Zimbabwean Man Steals Nearly a Million From SA Employer

In a shocking turn of events, a 44-year-old Zimbabwean man named Amos Tineyi Kampinya stole nearly a million rand from his employers in South Africa and disappeared into thin air.

Manhunt Launched for Amos Tineyi Kampinya

The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, also known as the Hawks, have launched an extensive manhunt to track down Kampinya, who managed to steal a whopping R900,000 from the popular eatery Mugg & Bean in Kruger National Park.

If caught, Amos Tineyi Kampinya will be charged with fraud and theft.

Captain Dineo Lucy Sekgotodi, the provincial spokesperson for the Hawks, revealed that the crime took place back in July 2022 at the renowned Kruger National Park in Mpumalanga.

The Hawks are seeking assistance from the community to locate Kampinya, who is believed to be a Zimbabwean citizen.

“Hawks in Mpumalanga requires assistance from the community to locate the whereabouts of the suspect appearing in the attached photographs, known as Amos Tineyi Kampinya, a Zimbabwean citizen,” said Sekgotodi.

Sekgotodi stated that during his employment as a manager at Mugg & Bean, Kampinya allegedly stole approximately R897,229 in company funds before disappearing. Authorities conducted a thorough search at his last known address at Karino Flats near Mbombela, but Kampinya was nowhere to be found.

“It is further alleged that Kampyinya stole company funds to the amount of R897,229 and disappeared. He was sought at his previous known address, at Karino Flats near Mbombela and he was not found,” said Sekgotodi.

Appeal for Community Assistance

Major General Nicholas Gerber, the provincial head of the Hawks in Mpumalanga, made a heartfelt appeal to Kampinya, urging him to surrender himself to the authorities.

Gerber also implored members of the community to come forward with any information regarding Kampinya’s whereabouts. They can reach out to the investigating officer, Captain Mandla Mphephethe, at 071 481 3295. The Hawks assured the public that all information provided would be treated with utmost confidentiality.
