Two suspects appeared in court for allegedly killing Collins Chabane mayor
MALAMULELE| Two accused, Shumani Nemadodzi(47) and Avhatakali Mulaudzi(42) appeared in Malamulele Magistrates’ Court, for the murder of Mayor of Collins Chabane Municipality, Councilor Moses Maluleke (56) on Monday, 01 August 2022.
The suspects are facing the charges of robbery with aggravating circumstances, murder, attempted murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
NPA Regional Spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi says that at first three suspects were arrested yet the third one was released after investigations could not positively link him to the incident.
Malabi-Dzhangi further says that the incident took place in Xikundu Village on 21 July 2022, at his homestead.
It is alleged that the accused gained access to the premises of the deceased, in the evening and shot him, the incident happened while the deceased was with his 18-year-old son.
The matter is adjourned to 10 August 2022, for bail application and further investigations, and the accused will remain in custody.
