Swallows FC has been found guilty of amending their team sheet without the approval of match officials against Cape Town City and slapped with a fine, Premier Soccer League (PSL) Prosecutor Zola Majavu has confirmed.
The Soweto-based outfit saw won the game 3-2 at Dobsonville Stadium earlier this month but the incident in which saw the game kickoff delayed was protested by the Citizens as Givemore Khupe was listed in the starting line-up while Kwanda Mngonyama was listed on the bench.
However, at the start of the game, it was reversed, which has now found them in hot water.
“Swallows appeared before the PSL DC to answer to two counts, the first one was the delaying of the kickoff in the match between themselves and Cape Town City, by three minutes,” he said on Thursday evening in an official statement.
“The second count related to the amendment of the team sheet without prior approval of the match officials, as well as consultation with the opposing captain. The respondent, Swallows FC pleaded guilty and was subsequently convicted as such.
“Having listened to the submissions from both parties’ legal representatives with regards to the appropriate sanction, the PSL DC sanction Swallows FC as follows:
“1. A monetary fine of R50,000 of which R40,000 is suspended and R10,000 payable effectively on condition that during the 12-month recond they are not found guilty of the same offence again and ordered to pay the cost of seating. In total Swallows, pay is approximately R80,000.”
