Stellenbosch FC have secured the signing of former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Darrel Matsheke to bolster their midfield options.
The 24-year-old who was released from Chiefs in the off-season replaced Sibongiseni Mthethwa, who left abruptly, heading in the opposite direction.
As previously reported in Edition 123 of iDiski Times, Matsheke, one of Chiefs’ stars during his academy days emerged as a potential target.
Chiefs were said to have activated his release clause and Matsheke, who has loan spells with Uthongathi and Moroka Swallows after breaking into the senior team has now landed a move to the Cape Winelands.
The tireless midfielder was spotted at Stellies training and is said to have penned a one-year deal as they look to get his once-promising career back on track.
Should he impress over the course of the next few months, the club hold a one-year option to extend.
