In a recent episode of The Venting Podcast, gospel star Solly Moholo bravely shared his personal struggles with depression and thoughts of suicide.

The renowned musician revealed that he experienced a deep sense of isolation and despair after his last album release in 2017, when he stopped receiving gigs.

During the interview, Solly admitted that he had contemplated taking his own life on multiple occasions.

He described the heaviness he felt, spending countless hours alone, watching television, and feeling like things were falling apart. The lack of visitors and the absence of shows added to his feelings of isolation.

The pain became so overwhelming that Solly confessed to even considering drastic measures. He revealed that he once thought about consuming Rattex, a potent rat poison, but ultimately decided against it. At another point, he had contemplated borrowing a gun from acquaintances to end his life.

Solly’s candidness sheds light on the harsh reality faced by many individuals battling depression. It serves as a reminder that even those who appear successful and accomplished can experience deep emotional pain and despair.

If you or someone you know is struggling with depression, having suicidal thoughts, or discussing self-harm, it is crucial to seek help from a mental health professional.

There are resources available such as the suicide helpline on 0800 567 567 or the Cipla Helpline on 0800 456 789, both of which operate 24/7. Alternatively, you can send an SMS to 31393.

It is important to remember that there is support and assistance available for those who are struggling. No one should face these challenges alone.
