Oscar Pistorius has reportedly undergone three noticeable changes in his appearance since he was released on parole on 5 January.

The convicted Paralympic star, who killed his then-girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine’s Day 2013, was freed from Atteridgeville Correctional Centre in Pretoria on Friday, 5 January. Here are three significant physical differences that have been observed after his release from prison.

Oscar Pistorius was given a 13-year and five-month sentence for the murder of his then-girlfriend, model, and law graduate, Reeva Steenkamp. She died after he shot her four times through a locked bathroom door with his licensed 9 mm pistol in their home.

The former Olympic runner, also known as the Blade Runner for his ability to sprint on his carbon-fibre prosthetic limbs, was granted parole on 24 November 2023, shortly before he was officially released on parole.

Almost a month has passed since his release and three major changes have been reported about Pistorius’ appearance. He is said to have allegedly gained some weight and grown grey hair, according to Daily Mail UK.

The 37-year-old former Olympic runner is said to be “hardly recognisable from the super-fit athlete” he was when he was reportedly named South Africa’s best-dressed man by GQ magazine, just months before Steenkamp was killed.”
