Seoposenwe – We Are In A Really Good Position

Banyana Banyana star Jermaine Seoposenwe believes that South Africa is in a very good position to lift their first ever WAFCON title.

But the Banyana star, who has scored two goals at the tournament, is not getting ahead of herself, and said the tournament is a marathon not a sprint.

Seoposenwe was speaking to Lethabo Kganyago in the latest edition of iDiski Times.

Banyana are in the semi-finals and will face Zambia on Monday for a spot in the final. They have won all four of their previous matches, and Seoposenwe said this is a great opportunity to achieve what they have missed out in previous years.

“I mean at the end of the day, we’ve always wanted to win every time we went to the tournament, and there wasn’t any complacency within us,” Seoposenwe told iDiski Times.

“We wanted to win, it was just that we fell short every time. I think every time we come to the final, I think we learn something about ourselves, we try to improve and I think that’s how our team is built.

“We want to get better constantly, we want to grow and I do think this is a very special group. We have players in the top leagues in the world, experienced players, and young players that bring energy.

“So when we look at all of those factors and those attributes that helped the team, I think we are in a really good position to bring home the title.

“That’s our goal, I mean, that’s the ambition, that’s what everyone wants. In this group, there’s not one person that has any doubt that that’s where we can end up.

“But it is not a sprint, it’s a marathon, this tournament is a marathon. You have to take each and every game on its merits.

“And so, I mean, is it a ghost? Is it not a ghost? I don’t really know. I can’t tell you. I don’t know if it’s bothering people or if it’s haunting people, I can’t tell you that.

“My focus is just to help my teammates whenever I can contribute to positive results for the team. I’m not really thinking about the past times that we didn’t make it to the final.

“I’m just thinking about what’s the next move to get there and when we are there, how do we win it too? That’s the mentality.”
