Orlando Pirates expected starting XI against Sekhukhune United

Posted on November 8, 2026

Orlando Pirates host Sekhukhune United at the Amstel Arena on Saturday afternoon in the quarter-finals of the Carling Knockout Cup.

The Buccaneers will be confident heading into the encounter, having beaten Sekhukhune in all three meetings between the sides this season.

Abdeslam Ouaddou’s men will also be eager to get back to winning ways after losing the MTN8 final. With another trophy up for grabs, Pirates will be determined to keep their hopes of silverware alive.

A victory could set up a potential semi-final showdown against either arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs or Mamelodi Sundowns.

How will Orlando Pirates line up?

Sipho Chaine is expected to retain his place between the posts, while Lebone Seema and Nkosinathi Sibisi are likely to marshal the central defence.

With Kamogelo Sebelebele unavailable, Pirates could once again play Bulelani Sigomoshe at right back with Deon Hotto on the left.

In midfield, Thalente Mbatha could partner Thapelo Mokobodi, with Simphiwe Masilela potentially playing in the attacking midfield role.

Upfront, Yanela Mbuthuma is expected to lead the Buccaneers’ attack as they look to secure a place in the semi-finals. Ouaddou has reached four finals since taking over at Orlando Pirates last season. With three trophies, he will look to retain the Carling Knockout which will be the club’s first silverware of the campaign.

Possible Orlando Pirates starting XI.

  • Goalkeeper: Sipho Chaine
  • Defenders: Bulelani Sigomoshe, Lebone Seema, Nkosinathi Sibisi and Deon Hotto
  • Midfielders: Thalente Mbatha, Thapelo Mokobodi, Simphiwe Masilela

Will Pirates go through?
