Cape Town City have announced the extension of their captain Thamsanqa Mkhize’s contract for a further two years.

The club confirmed the extension of the 33-year-old’s deal until 2024 on Monday.

Mkhize is one of the club’s longest-serving players, having joined the club a few months after they were founded in 2016.

He has helped the club lift two trophies, the Telkom Knockout in their debut season, and the MTN8 trophy two years later.

He took over the captaincy in 2017, after Lebogang Manyama left the club.

The former Golden Arrows and Maritzburg United defender is the most capped player at City, having featured in around 170 games in all competitions for the Citizens.
