It’s anyone’s guess when the Zulu king will be coronated after yet another challenge for the throne.
At a royal family meeting on Friday in Ulundi several matters were raised, including the date of King Misuzulu kaZwelithini’s coronation.
The Zulu prime minister, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, touched on the ongoing battle for the throne.
Some senior royal members are against king Misuzulu taking the reins – even approaching the courts.
“It is a great pity such confusion has been caused within the nation by the five approaches to the court that have been made by a few members of the royal family, like Prince Mbonisi, his late sister Princess Thembi.
“All of this litigation created the impression that there is still some dispute over the Zulu Throne. Nothing could be further from the truth,” Buthelezi said.
“Even this week, litigation was dismissed with costs, every judgment has been against those who dispute his majesty’s right to the throne.”
New dates have been proposed for the coronation, which Buthelezi says will form part of discussions.
As it stands, the event might take place on 17 September or 1 October, depending on the president’s availability.
