Lawrence and Lerato’s backstage video sparks kiss rumors

Lerato Kganyago and Lawrence Maleka had social media buzzing long before they even stepped on stage to host the Metro FM Music Awards 2026.

The duo, who were announced as hosts of the ceremony held at the Durban International Convention Centre, gave fans a glimpse of their chemistry in a TikTok video shared just hours before the show.

In the clip, Maleka surprised Kganyago with flowers in her dressing room, and the two shared a warm hug before exchanging a few lighthearted words.

Captioning the post, Kganyago reflected on their journey together: “We’ve come a long way, Law! From Soweto TV to BIG platforms together! Hard work does pay off… Let’s GO Family ❤️ #MMA26.”

The short but intimate moment quickly caught attention online, with many viewers reading into their natural connection.

Some fans playfully suggested there might be more to their bond, as the first glimpse at the video was perceived to be a kiss, while others simply admired how comfortable they appeared around each other.

One user wrote, “[Sticker] I thought you guys were kissing,” while another took a nostalgic turn, praising their early days on Soweto TV and recalling how their on-screen presence once defined afternoon viewing.

“Was that a kiss?😳” a TikTok user questioned.

Beyond the viral hug, many agreed that the pair delivered as hosts, applauding how seamlessly they complemented each other throughout the night.

Their performance left viewers calling for a repeat, with several suggesting they should return to host the awards again in 2027.
