Cape Town City have rejected a $500000 (R9m) bid for Cameroon youth international midfielder Brice Ambina.
Ambina, 21, has emerged as one of the most promising talents in the DStv Premiership and has been on the fringes of the Cameroon senior national team with a couple of call-ups over the past 12 months.
Interest in North Africa emerged a couple of months ago and Turkey but the first official offer has come from FC Riga.
According to sources close to City, the four-time Latvian champions are seeking an immediate transfer in order to secure the player for the UEFA Europa League qualifiers.
However, it seems City are ready to hold on to the player, who they site as a key part of their first-team plans, with the hope that larger offers are forthcoming.
Ambina has racked up 42 appearances for City since his arrival in February 2022 from Renaissance FC in Cameroon.
