  • Unknown assailants set fire to the Mbumbulu homestead of anti-immigration activist Ngizwe Mchunu on Sunday afternoon.
  • The attack follows a series of controversial “anti-foreigner” marches led by the former broadcaster across South Africa.
  • While property was destroyed, Mchunu was not present during the raid and no injuries have been reported.

The rural residence of Ngizwe Mchunu, a former Ukhozi FM presenter turned anti-immigration campaigner, was torched on Sunday in an apparent retaliatory strike.

The incident occurred at his property in Mbumbulu, situated south of Durban, while Mchunu was away from the premises.

According to reports, unidentified individuals entered the property and sought Mchunu’s whereabouts before setting fire to several structures.

Although the blaze caused extensive damage to the buildings and personal belongings, no casualties or injuries were recorded during the assault.

Mchunu, who frequently refers to himself as the “President of the Amabhinca Nation,” has recently spearheaded several high-profile protests demanding the removal of undocumented migrants from neighbouring African nations.

These demonstrations have significantly intensified xenophobic friction within the region.

At present, Mchunu has issued no official statement regarding the destruction of his home.

Law enforcement authorities have yet to confirm the status of their investigation, and no suspects have been taken into custody.
