In a relieving turn of events, Lindokuhle Ntsethe, the 5-year-old Grade R pupil from Sydenham Primary School in KwaZulu-Natal, who went missing after the first day of school, has been found.

The young boy apparently took the wrong taxi after school on Wednesday, sparking concerns when he did not arrive home.

The KwaZulu-Natal Education Department swiftly spread the news of his disappearance, urging community members to contact the boy’s mother or the police with any information about his whereabouts.

Fortunately, Lindokuhle was located at his school the following morning.

“We are here at the school. The child was here this morning. I cannot give any more details at this moment as we just got here,” said the boy’s mother, Olwethu, to Times Live.

Reports suggest that Lindokuhle, a first-time pupil at the school, boarded the “wrong” taxi when school closed early due to severe weather warnings issued by the SA Weather Service.

The province experienced disruptive rain, leading the education department to instruct schools to release pupils early.

The incident occurred amidst severe weather conditions in KwaZulu-Natal, where the death toll climbed into the 40s earlier in the week.

Disaster management teams responded to various fatal incidents caused by heavy rains since Friday evening.
