Tunisian coach Jalel Kadri has included Manchester United midfielder Hannibal Mejbri, who is on loan at Championship club Birmingham City, in his 2022 FIFA World Cup squad.

Mejbri was loaned out at the beginning of the season but has represented his country 18 times already despite only being 19 years old.

Kadri has also called up Wahbi Khazri, who plays for Montpellier and boasts 71 caps to his name.

Khazri has featured at five Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournaments, and has scored 24 international goals.

Ali Maalou, who is a powerful full-back for Egyptian giants Al Ahly, is also included in the squad.

The North Africans, who have suffered group exits in all five of their previous appearances, boast just two wins from 15 games – the first against Mexico in 1978 and then against Panama in 2018.

In the 2022 World Cup Qatar, they are paired in Group D with Denmark, Australia and France. They will face Denmark in the opening group on 22 November, then Australia and conclude the group with holders France on 30 November.
