Zwane Reacts To Du Preez And Bimenyimana Misses

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane was not too concerned over Ashley du Preez and Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana missing chances to win the game against AmaZulu.

Chiefs were held to a 1-1 draw against the 10-men of Usuthu in their first leg MTN8 semi-final at FNB Stadium on Sunday afternoon but the attacking duo could have made it a comfortable win.

Du Preez missed a chance with the goal gaping after Veli Mothwa saved his initial shot and the ball bounced back to his feet, but he somehow skied it over the crossbar while Bimenyimana also spurned a close-range effort in the second half.

But Zwane says they will work tirelessly on the training ground to make sure these misses don’t come back to haunt them going forward.

“Not really, a game of football you create chances you know and score… it’s a game of mistakes, it’s a game that teaches you to rectify your mistakes,” Zwane said in the post-match press conference at FNB Stadium.

“We’re obviously going to go back to training and polish our finishing because like you said, had we taken the opportunities we created today, it could’ve been a different ball game altogether going into the second leg.

“So we’re going dig even deeper to score goals in Durban, but the way they [the players] exerted themselves, I think they gave their all, it’s worse when you get on to the field and you don’t create those chances at all.

“So the created space, running into the right places at the right times, it was just execution that let us down. But the keeper [Mothwa] made some good saves as well.

“As I’ve said before I think we’re on the right track and I’m not going to press the panic buttons because we missed chances today. We created a lot of chances and we’ll work on it, we’ll come back and come back very strong.”

Chiefs will now face Swallows, Stellenbosch, Chippa United and TS Galaxy in the league before the return leg in Durban on 23 October at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
