Orlando Pirates have confirmed their first few games of the 2022/23 DStv Premiership campaign and the club’s Soweto Derby date with Kaizer Chiefs.

New Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro will begin his reign in charge in the 2022/2023 DStv Premiership with a challenging Soweto derby to kick off the season, as the club confirmed on their website.

Riveiro’s appointment took many by surprise and the Spanish coach will be looking to get off to a positive start when the Buccaneers host their oldest rivals, Swallows in the Original Soweto Derby on the opening weekend of the new season.

Pirates’ next game will be midweek on the road, and they will take on Stellenbosch away, before returning to the Orlando Stadium to host Chippa United the following weekend.

They will be on the road again the following week, as they head to KZN to take on Royal AM, before returning to Gauteng to take on SuperSport United in Tshwane.

They return to the Orlando Stadium to host Marumo Gallants, before they end August with an MTN8 quarter-final, when they will be hosted again by Royal AM, before their focus returns to league action.

The first Soweto Derby with rivals Kaizer Chiefs will take place on 29 October, when the Buccaneers will host Amakhosi at the FNB Stadium.
