Mario, Dru Hill and Silk coming to SA: Where and when?

Mario will headline Pretoria’s We Love R&B Concert Experience alongside Dru Hill and Silk in May 2027. The show is set for SunBet Arena at Time Square, Menlyn, on 22 May 2027.

MARIO, DRU HILL AND SILK COMING TO SA

Dru Hill and Silk were announced first, with organisers teasing a third international act. That turned out to be Mario, who takes the top spot on the bill. Promoter Remoakantse Holdings is behind the event, and managing director Thabiso Mogashwa says the line-up is exactly the kind of R&B experience the team wanted to deliver for the capital.

The three acts cover different eras of the genre. Dru Hill, the Baltimore group fronted by Sisqó, are expected to perform favourite hits. Silk is set to bring their smooth harmonies and the 90s slow jam known for hits such as Meeting in My Bedroom, along with Freak Me. Mario, the youngest of the three, rose to fame in the 2000s with ballads like Just a Friend 2002 and Let Me Love You.

For Dru Hill this will be a South African homecoming. They toured the country in 2024, with shows in Cape Town and Pretoria. Their relationship with local group Bongo Maffin goes back to Nelson Mandela’s 80th birthday celebrations in 1998. They have since kept busy abroad, and a review of a recent Dallas show described Mario’s set as built on roses, serenades and a closing run of Let Me Love You. Local fans can expect a polished, crowd-pleasing performance.

The concert also fits a growing local appetite for R&B nostalgia. Mogashwa’s company has been bringing international acts to the country, and the We Love RnB brand has become popular among South African fans. Its Johannesburg two-year celebration earlier this year sold out every ticket tier.

WHERE TO GET TICKETS?

Ticket details are now public. Tickets go on sale on 28 October through Webtickets and at Pick n Pay outlets. Prices had not been announced at the time of publishing. So, fans should watch the official channels closely. Concerts of this calibre at SunBet Arena tend to move quickly.

This adds to a number of concerts taking place this year, including Ne-Yo this October.
