Kaizer Chiefs will look to maintain their winning start to the Betway Premiership when they host Mamelodi Sundowns at FNB Stadium on Saturday, 15 August in one of the early season’s biggest fixtures.

Both sides head into the clash on the back of victories.

Mamelodi Sundowns opened their league campaign with a thrilling 3-2 win away against TS Galaxy on Tuesday, while Kaizer Chiefs followed that result with a convincing 2-0 victory over Sekhukhune United at FNB Stadium the following evening.

The result leaves both clubs with plenty of confidence heading into Saturday’s heavyweight encounter.

Kaizer Chiefs looking to end stalemate run

Last season produced little to separate the two giants, with both league meetings ending in draws.

The first encounter in Johannesburg finished 0-0, before the sides played to a 1-1 draw in Pretoria.

Kaizer Chiefs will therefore be determined to turn home advantage into three points, while Mamelodi Sundowns will be looking to make an early statement in their bid to reclaim the league title.

With both teams having already shown their attacking quality, another closely fought contest is expected.

FNB Stadium ready for big occasion

Supporters are being encouraged to arrive early, with the stadium gates opening at 11:00 ahead of the 15:00 kick-off.

Fans will be entertained before the match by performances from South African artists including Scotts Maphuma, Sizwe Alakine and Tman Express.

Transport and parking packages are also available for supporters travelling to the stadium.

Match-day prices

  • General match ticket: R100
  • Rea Vaya package: R160, including match ticket and return transport
  • Gautrain Park Station package: R125, including match ticket and return Gautrain bus
  • General access parking: R50
  • Johannesburg Stadium Park & Ride: R60

Only 8 000 general parking tickets are available inside the stadium precinct, and motorists must purchase parking in advance.

Tickets are available through the MyTicket App, as well as Shoprite and Checkers stores nationwide.
