Bontle Moloi bids emotional farewell to Spotty after winning ‘The Masked Singer SA’

Bontle Modiselle has bid an emotional farewell to Spotty, the colourful dog character she portrayed on The Masked Singer South Africa, following her Season 3 victory.

The actress, dancer and television personality was revealed as the celebrity behind Spotty after taking home the coveted trophy, leaving fans stunned by her performances throughout the season.

Following her big win, Bontle took to social media to reflect on the experience and what the mysterious character came to mean to her.

‘The perfect word is liberation’

Introducing herself as “Bontle Queen Elizabeth Moloi aka ‘Spotty,” the star celebrated becoming the Season 3 winner.

“Who knew that I needed to be in a dog to bring out the dawg in me?!” she joked.

Bontle admitted that keeping her identity under wraps had been challenging, particularly because the experience became one of the most meaningful things she had taken part in.

“Staying tight-lipped about one of the best things to happen to me is wild!” she wrote.

For Bontle, the word that best captured her The Masked Singer SA experience was “liberation.”

She praised the production team for creating an environment where she and her fellow contestants could explore different sides of themselves.

‘You gifted me a confidence I truly needed’

Bontle also expressed gratitude to the people who helped bring Spotty to life, including Khaya Mthethwa and Chervon Chetty.

She credited them with helping her confront things she had been afraid to see and express in herself.

“You, alongside my beautiful Chervon Chetty, never allowed me to think anything less of myself and what I had to give,” she wrote. “You gifted me a confidence I truly needed. I’m so grateful to you guys.”

The star also reflected on the show’s deeper personal meaning, saying the experience allowed the contestants to address everything from “the unfinished dream” and “the birth of a new dream” to insecurity, safety and the courage to simply exist and have fun.

‘One of the greatest wins was finding family’

Bontle gave a special shout-out to her fellow finalists, whom she affectionately called her “Fantastic fournale” — Khanyi Mbau, Judith Sephuma, Robot Boii and the other contestants who shared the journey with her.

While she ultimately walked away with the trophy, Bontle said the relationships formed during the competition were among the biggest highlights.

“To have run the race alongside you right until the end is an honour. Beyond the outcome, one of the greatest wins was finding family in you,” she said.

She also praised host Mpho Popps, calling him “what a host!” and sharing her appreciation for his work.

‘Our best-kept secret is finally out’

Bontle also thanked Sibu Mabena, describing their shared secret as one that had finally been revealed.

“Nja yami! Uyabona wena?! Your foresight and confidence are unmatched,” she wrote. “Many of our stories are yet to be told, but for now, our best-kept secret between us is finally out.”

And while viewers spent weeks trying to work out the identities behind the masks, Bontle had a message for the “couch detectives” across South Africa.

“To every couch detective across South Africa, you made every episode so much to watch. You guessed, you debated, you were invested, okay?! Thank you,” she said.

Despite celebrating her victory, Bontle admitted that saying goodbye to Spotty would be bittersweet.

“To Spotty – I’m gonna miss you, but I will love you forever, from the bottom of my heart,” she wrote.

Her heartfelt message offered fans a glimpse into the personal journey behind the playful Spotty costume, revealing that her The Masked Singer SA experience was about much more than the competition.

For Bontle, Spotty became a space to rediscover confidence, embrace creativity and have fun — while ultimately becoming the Season 3 winner.
