ActionSA CANDIDATE FACES ASSAULT CASE AS WOMAN DEMANDS JUSTICE
A former Vibe FM marketing manager, Bongekile Mkhwanazi, is demanding justice after allegedly being assaulted by Nhlanhla “Big Show” Mqadi, an ActionSA councillor candidate in eThekwini.
Mkhwanazi alleges that Mqadi attacked her in the early hours of 12 June 2026 at the Royal Majestic Hotel in Durban, following a disagreement over unpaid wages and transport money after a live broadcast during the Bafana Bafana versus Mexico FIFA World Cup match.
She reportedly sustained serious injuries and underwent surgery at Addington Hospital.
Mqadi has appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on an assault charge. The matter is expected to return to court on 23 November 2026.
Mkhwanazi says she intends to pursue the case despite alleged pressure from people in the media industry to withdraw the charges. She has also questioned ActionSA’s silence on the matter, given Mqadi’s involvement in the party’s election campaign.
ActionSA’s response to the allegations was not included in the information provided.
