Soweto Fashion Week is set to return with its Spring/Summer 2026 season from 5 to 7 November 2026 at Soweto Theatre in Jabulani, Soweto, bringing together emerging designers, established fashion brands and creatives from across South Africa.
Following a landmark Autumn/Winter season, the upcoming event will showcase the diversity of South African fashion through collections celebrating colour, movement, prints and local identity.
The three-day event aims to provide a platform for designers to share their creativity, connect with the fashion industry and contribute to the growing recognition of South African design on the international stage.
Day 1: Emerging designers take centre stage
The opening night will spotlight the next generation of South African fashion talent, with nine emerging designers set to present their work on the runway.
Among the designers featured are RFL Studios, Zimisele and Shirley Joseph. Fashion students from the University of Johannesburg and Tshwane University of Technology will also showcase their designs.
The Emerging Designers Bloc aims to introduce audiences to fresh creative voices and highlight the talent shaping the future of the local fashion industry.
Day 2: Mbobo Movement makes its main-show return
The second night will feature a line-up of established and emerging brands, including Mbobo Movement, the patchwork and denim label founded by Luthando Mbobo.
Mbobo returns to the Soweto Fashion Week runway after making his debut in the Autumn/Winter 2026 Emerging Designers Bloc. His progression to the main show marks an important milestone for the brand.
Since last year’s show, Mbobo Movement received a nomination for Best Emerging Fashion Designer at the South Africa Fashion Awards and expanded into children’s fashion at SA Kids Fashion Week.
Speaking about the upcoming collection, Mbobo said the brand would bring its growth and experiences to the main stage.
“Expect bold colours, a real celebration of who we are as South Africans, and a collection that carries stories you can feel,” he said.
Other brands scheduled to feature on the second night include Precious Lulu Couture, KwaZulu Fashion Hut and Originally Kasified, alongside additional designers.

The final night will bring fashion and the arts together, with television presenter Ayanda Nhlapo presenting her brand, House of Ayanda, on the runway.
Afro-soul and R&B singer Wanda Baloyi will also showcase Wanda Wear by Wanda Baloyi, adding another creative dimension to the season’s closing show.
The final line-up will include Hoss by Sass by Sanele Thabethe and Dope Store, among others.
The closing night will celebrate the intersection of fashion, entertainment and artistic expression, rounding off three days of showcasing South African creativity.

Celebrating South African fashion and creativity
Across the three days, Soweto Fashion Week will offer designers a platform to share their perspectives on local identity, culture and contemporary style.
The Spring/Summer season arrives at a time when South African designers are gaining greater international recognition, while interest in homegrown fashion continues to grow.
Through its mix of emerging talent and established names, the event aims to contribute to the development of the local fashion industry and create opportunities for designers to build their brands and industry connections.
