Zozibini Tunzi excited about her first acting role

Former Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi is stepping into a bold new role, swapping the pageant stage for the screen.

The South African beauty queen, crowned Miss Universe in 2019, will make her professional acting debut in Netflix’s upcoming series Bad Influencer, premiering worldwide on October 31, 2025.

Now known as Zozibini Tunzi-Bolowana, she shared her excitement on Instagram, finally letting fans in on the secret.

“The cat’s out the bag! Meet Naomi, on the new series Bad Influencer coming to Netflix on 31 October. Chile, her smirk already has me stressed. I’m so proud of my first series role. The show is incredible, the cast is impeccable! You’re gonna love it all. I hope you’re sat!” she wrote.

Her announcement immediately lit up social media, with friends and fellow stars celebrating the milestone.

TV personality K Naomi gushed, “Almost had a heart attack, congratulations mama… can’t wait to see you on screen!” while radio host Zanele Potelwa added, “OH MY GOODNESS!!! I’m soooo excited.”

Produced by Gambit Films, the highly anticipated series brings together a stellar cast including Jo-Anne Reyneke, Cindy Mahlangu, Thapelo Mokoena, Hamilton Dlamini, Aubrey Poo, Julia Anastasopoulos, Emmanuel Castis, and Lerato Nxumalo.

Bad Influencer follows Jo-Anne Reyneke’s character BK, a hustling single mom who teams up with aspiring influencer Pinky (played by Cindy Mahlangu) to sell counterfeit luxury bags online.

What starts as a harmless scheme soon escalates, attracting the wrath of a dangerous crime boss and the attention of the police.

Netflix describes it as a story set in a city obsessed with appearances, where two women are forced to balance a glamorous online life with the harsh realities of the criminal underworld.

For Zozibini, the project marks the beginning of a whole new chapter her transformation from international beauty queen to actress.

Fans won’t have to wait much longer to see if she can conquer the screen as gracefully as she did the universe.
