Zim striker Admiral Muskwe expects more game time at Fleetwood

Zimbabwean striker Admiral Muskwe believes he is nearing a massive career transformation following a ‘dream start’ to life at Fleetwood in England’s League One.

He might have been a bit-part player at Luton Town in the Skybet Championship, but Muskwe is anticipating to a better fortune at Fleetwood.

The gangly striker was loaned to Fleetwood for the rest of the season after failing to pin down a first-team place at Luton.

He has been unable to stay at one club for at least a year since being weaned off from Leicester City’s juniors in 2020.

And as he reflects on his first goal for the club since joining them on the transfer window deadline, the 24-year-old said:

“It’s like I’m now realising a dream. I didn’t understand the feeling at that moment, but I was happy. I have so much to give if I get a chance, I must deliver. God willing, this might present a fresh start to myself and my career.

“It was great to get my first goal for the club, but it’s bittersweet because we wanted the three points.

“With them going down to ten men, there was a huge opportunity for us to get all three points; for me, it’s two points dropped.

“When you see the ball bouncing around as a striker, you think about how you can affect the play, and I was just in the right place at the right time, which strikers like to do.

“With so many players in the box, I just needed to get some height on my shot, and thankfully it went in.

“With Wycombe going down to 10 men, we just didn’t adjust to it instantly; we took a bit of time to really get a grasp of it and maybe we were impatient at times in the game. We will make sure we get things right in the next match we play.”

Muskwe has been rather nomadic since leaving Leicester City’s developmental ranks in 2020.

Since then, the Warriors striker has had brief stints at Swindon and Wycombe Wanderers before joining Luton, who shipped him out to Fleetwood.

Amid all the movement from one club to another, Muskwe’s dream of breaking into the highly rated English Premier League hangs in the balance.
