Zim Exemption Permits termination to be challenged in court

Published

The Helen Suzman Foundation is challenging the termination of the Zimbabwean Exemption Permit in court.

The permit allowed thousands of Zimbabweans to live and work in the country legally.
However, in November, Cabinet took a decision not to renew them. It came to an end at the end of 2021.

Zimbabweans were given 12 months to apply for other types of permits or leave.

The foundation says these people have built lives, families and careers and contributed to the economy.

It says the decision will leave many desperate and vulnerable.
