Zamalek Make Stance Clear On Zizo Future

Zamalek SC have made their stance clear on their attacking talisman Ahmed Zizo who’s been subject of a record transfer bid from Saudi Pro League side Al Shabab.

The 27-year-old winger has emerged as one of the leading talents in Africa since joining Zamalek in 2019 from Portuguese outfit Moreirense.

With 65 goals and 53 assists in 200 games, he’s become a key figure at the White Knights and interest from the Gulf and Turkish Superlig side Besiktas has been clear this month.

Al Shabab reportedly made a bid of $4-million for the services of the Egypt international but after being rebuffed in their advances, they are now said to be after Percy Tau.

But for the sake of transparency to their fans, in a move that would have eclipsed their record sale of Mostafa Mohamed to Galatasaray in July last year, they stated he won’t be leaving.

“The board of directors of Zamalek rejected the idea of selling Ahmed Sayed Zizo during the current summer transfer window,” the statement read (h/t) Kingfut.

“This comes after the club received an offer from Saudi Arabia’s Al-Shabab, seeking to acquire the player during the current summer transfer period.

“Zizo’s father had requested approval for his son’s transfer, but Ahmed Mortada, a member of the board, informed him of the rejection of the matter.

“Zamalek is determined to keep the player with the team in the coming period. Furthermore, Zamalek officials deny the rumours about the club’s approval to sell the player for $6 million.”

Zamalek are currently under a FIFA Transfer ban which has led them to be unwilling to part ways with several of their most prized assets ahead of the 2023/24 season.
